What’s in your fridge?

What’s in your fridge?

But what is “good food”?

  • Fresh, whole foods tend to be found around the outside walls of the grocery store.
  • Go for a variety of vegetables and fruits – especially veggies. Can you make a rainbow with your produce purchases?
  • Consider shopping at stores with organic options. Bonus if they are produced locally and in-season. Look for farmer’s markets in the area.
  • Read labels. Stay away from hydrogenated fats, preservatives, nitrates/nitrites, high fructose corn syrup, sugar substitutes, food dyes, and chemical ingredients that can’t be pronounced.
  • If you don’t have filtered water at home, then include filtered or spring water in your cart.

Make fruits and vegetables easy to grab for snacks. They can be precut and stored in glass containers. Add some whole milk cottage cheese, hummus, nut butters, or other minimally processed dips to enhance (or cover up 🙂 your veggie flavors).
