We focus on identifying root causes, supporting the body’s innate healing processes, and restoring balance through nutrition, lifestyle, botanicals, homeopathy, structural work, and mind-body approaches.
How does the Naturopathic/ Nutrition New Client Package Work?
Our naturopathic/nutrition New Client Package includes your Initial Intake Visit plus two structured follow-up sessions. This gives us time to address your symptoms, build your plan, adjust as needed, and help you create steady momentum.
Here’s how it works:
- Schedule the ND/ Nutrition New Client Package.
- After scheduling, you will receive an email with logon information to the client portal. Here you will find consent forms and questionnaires that should be filled out at least 2 days prior to the appointment time. This is so we have time to review the information. Expect this to take about an hour to an hour and a half of your time to complete the forms. Please also upload any documents that support diagnoses, labs, and other tests so we can do a complete evaluation.
- First visit: Expect this appointment to last about two hours. We want to get a thorough understanding of your history, lifestyle, concerns and goals. We’ll use the information you provided ahead of time to help guide the direction of questions for this meeting. It’s a lot of talking, so bring your favorite drink to quench your thirst. We have a few options available too. We will also take vitals and do a physical exam that is pertinent to your symptoms and goals.
- After the initial visit, we compile all of the information into a health timeline, lab tracking spreadsheet, supplement ingredient table, medication/supplement interactions, diet/nutrient evaluation (if a food/mood journal was provided) and develop a draft version of a Health Optimization Plan.
- Second visit: Usually about an hour. Presentation, discussion, and collaboration of the draft Health Optimization Plan.
- After the second visit: This is a good time to thoroughly read the draft Health Optimization Plan, consider what resonates with you and write down the questions you may have. Possibly start implementing some of the strategies.
- Third visit: Use this 1 hour visit however you would like. It is often used to answer questions about the Health Optimization Plan you thought about after reading it more thoroughly, discuss any changes since our last visit, and make adjustments. Other options for this visit include using it as the first follow-up visit, or for one of our therapeutic services such as constitutional hydrotherapy, sauna/Plunge, red light, NST, etc…
What should I expect at a new patient chiropractic visit?
Your first visit includes a full assessment, discussion of symptoms, movement evaluation, exam, and treatment when appropriate. Dr. Eric Mai will explain everything clearly and adjust your plan based on your goals and comfort.
What types of Chiropractic treatments are used at Nourisherpa?
Treatment may include manual adjustments, gentle mobilization, soft tissue work, therapeutic massage, lymphatic support, fascial release techniques, and rehabilitation exercises. Everything is individualized.
Manual Spinal Adjustments
- The core of chiropractic care often involves spinal adjustments or manipulations to correct misalignments (also called subluxations) in the spine. These adjustments are done carefully and precisely, usually with hands-on techniques, to restore proper alignment and mobility to the spine and joints.
- Contrary to the idea of forcing a “crack”, we use gentle, controlled adjustments designed to improve joint movement, relieve pressure on nerves, and stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. Dr. Eric determines which adjustments to use based on your unique needs depending on your condition.
Soft Tissue Therapy and Techniques
- To complement spinal adjustment, we may incorporate soft tissue techniques such as myofascial release, deep tissue acupressure massage, lymphatic massage or trigger point therapy. These therapies help to relieve tension in the muscles and soft tissues surrounding the spine, allowing for better overall mobility and less pain.
Stretching and Strengthening
- In addition to relieving muscle tension, we may recommend specific exercises or stretches to strengthen weak areas and improve flexibility. This can help prevent future injuries, improve posture, and increase your body’s resilience.
Ergonomics Guidance
- Chiropractic care often goes beyond the treatment room. We will likely offer practical advice on improving your posture, body mechanics, and ergonomics. Whether it’s suggesting adjustments to your workstation, how to lift heavy objects safely, or offering stretches to incorporate into your daily routine, these tips are designed to enhance long-term results and reduce the risk of recurrence.
Lifestyle Changes
- Depending on your health goals, we may also discuss nutrition, lifestyle changes or fitness routines that can support your healing. This holistic approach ensures that the body remains in balance after treatment and addresses the root causes of discomfort, rather than just providing temporary relief of symptoms.
Patient Education
- One of the key tenets of good chiropractic care is education. We not only provide treatment but also empower you to take charge of your health. We help you understand the importance of spinal health and offer advice on how to live a healthy, active life. This empowers patients to take proactive steps in their care and maintain the improvements made during treatment.
Ongoing Care
- Since our chiropractic care is focused on long-term wellness and only immediate symptom relief, many patients benefit from ongoing care to prevent future injuries, manage stress, or maintain spinal health during aging. Maintenance adjustments may be a part of your treatment, which are typically less frequent, but can help to keep your body functioning at it’s best.
What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care focuses on restoring healthy movement and alignment in your spine and joints so your nervous system can function at its best. At Nourisherpa, chiropractic care is gentle, functional, and tailored to your comfort level.
Does PEMF Make A Difference?
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy) supports the electrical side of cellular function.
Every cell maintains a membrane potential, which ia a small electrical gradient that regulates nutrient exchange, cellular signaling, and repair. Stress, inflammation, and injury can disrupt this electrical balance. PEMF delivers gentle, low-frequency electromagnetic pulses that may help support membrane potential, circulation, and cellular communication.¹
Research suggests PEMF may influence calcium signaling, nitric oxide pathways, and inflammatory modulation — all of which play a role in tissue repair and recovery.²
At Nourisherpa, we use the QRS-101 system, an FDA-registered device designed to deliver low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields in a controlled, therapeutic manner.
When combined with red light therapy, the two modalities work synergistically:
- Red light supports mitochondrial energy production (ATP).
- PEMF supports membrane potential and cellular communication.
In simple terms, red light helps cells generate energy more efficiently, and PEMF helps cells regulate and respond to that energy effectively.
Together, they support circulation, recovery, and balanced inflammatory signaling — especially for musculoskeletal and regenerative support.

Is Red Light Therapy Safe?
Red light therapy (also called photobiomodulation) has been studied for decades and is considered very safe when used appropriately.
Unlike UV light, therapeutic red and near-infrared wavelengths do not damage DNA and are non-ionizing. They do not burn or tan the skin. The goal is to stimulate cellular energy production — not to create heat injury.
At Nourisherpa, we use medical-grade LED panels designed for therapeutic output and safety. These panels deliver specific, research-supported wavelengths without ultraviolet exposure.
Eye Safety
LED red light therapy is generally safe for the eyes when used appropriately, but protective eyewear is always provided and recommended during sessions — especially when the face is being treated.
Our panels are designed to avoid the retinal risk associated with laser-based devices, and we position them carefully to maximize therapeutic benefit while minimizing glare and discomfort.
Targeted Cold Laser (Low-Level Laser Therapy)
In addition to LED panels, we also offer cold laser therapy (low-level laser therapy) for more targeted treatment areas.
Cold laser:
- Uses focused, coherent light
- Allows for deeper penetration in small, specific regions
- Is especially helpful for localized joint pain, tendon injuries, nerve irritation, and trigger points
Because cold laser light is more concentrated than LED light, protective eyewear is mandatory during these treatments. We follow strict clinical safety protocols.
When Red Light Therapy May Not Be Appropriate
Red light therapy may require caution or medical coordination if you have:
- Active malignancy (unless coordinated with your oncology team)
- Pregnancy
- Light sensitivity disorders
- Photosensitizing medications
- Direct thyroid exposure without clinical guidance
- Recent steroid injections in the treatment area
If you have a complex medical history, we review your case first. Safety is never assumed.
Why Professional Oversight Matters
While at-home devices exist, dosage (wavelength, intensity, treatment distance, and frequency) matters. Too little may be ineffective. Too much may overstimulate sensitive individuals.
At Nourisherpa, sessions are:
- Timed appropriately (20–30 minutes)
- Positioned at correct therapeutic distance
- Combined with PEMF when appropriate
- Adjusted based on your condition and sensitivity
The goal is therapeutic precision — not just exposure.
How many Red Light Sessions do I need?
Many people notice benefits after a few sessions, but results are cumulative. A series of treatments often produces the most noticeable improvements. For best results, we suggest 2-3 sessions per week for 4 weeks. This is why we offer a 20% discount if you purchase a package of 10 sessions.
How Does Red Light Therapy Work?
Red light therapy works at the level of the mitochondria. You know, those energy-producing centers of your cells.
The most researched way this happens is that red and near-infrared wavelengths (typically 600–1000 nm) penetrate tissue, and through photoreceptors in the cells, interact with an enzyme inside the mitochondria called cytochrome c oxidase. This interaction improves the efficiency of the electron transport chain, increasing production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the primary energy source of the cell.¹
When cells produce energy more efficiently, several downstream effects can occur including:
- Improved tissue repair
- Enhanced collagen production
- Reduced oxidative stress
- Healthier inflammatory signaling
- Improved circulation
Near-infrared light penetrates more deeply than visible red light, reaching muscles, joints, and connective tissue. This is why red light therapy can support both skin health and musculoskeletal recovery.
Research also suggests red and near-infrared light may:
- Increase nitric oxide availability (supporting vasodilation)²
- Modulate inflammatory pathways
- Support wound healing
- Improve cellular resilience under stress
In simple terms:
Red light therapy helps cells make energy more efficiently. And that energy is required for repair, immune balance, detoxification, and recovery.
When combined with PEMF, which supports cellular signaling and membrane potential, the effect is complementary — supporting both energy production and communication at the tissue level.
The goal is not to override the body’s natural functions, but to create better conditions for healing to occur.

What is HRV biofeedback?
HRV (heart rate variability) biofeedback helps train your nervous system to shift into parasympathetic mode. This is the state where healing, digestion, and emotional regulation happen. Using real-time feedback and guided breathing, we help your body learn how to access calm more easily and consistently.
What is PEMF therapy?
PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) uses low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to recharge and restore your cells. It supports pain reduction, circulation, nerve health, recovery, and overall vitality. Clients may describe PEMF as “deeply calming,” “nourishing,” or “like a massage for my cells.”
What is cold plunge therapy?
The cold plunge uses chilled water to activate your vagus nerve, improve circulation, increase resilience, reduce inflammation, and support mental clarity. It’s an invigorating, mood-boosting reset for your entire nervous system.
What is infrared sauna therapy?
Our Sunlighten™ far infrared sauna uses deep-penetrating infrared heat to support detoxification, circulation, muscle recovery, and nervous system relaxation. It’s different from a traditional hot sauna because it is gentler, more comfortable, and deeply restorative.
What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy uses specific red and near-infrared wavelengths to support cellular energy, reduce inflammation, promote tissue repair, and improve circulation. Many people feel calmer, less achy, and more energized afterwards. It’s gentle, relaxing, and completely non-invasive.
Does Nourisherpa offer lymphatic massage?
Yes. Gentle lymphatic drainage, dry brushing, and acupressure techniques that support detox pathways and immune health. To book lymphatic massage, select a Therapeutic Massage visit with a note explaining you are looking for lymphatic massage.
What is NST (neurostructural integration technique)?
NST is a gentle, whole-body technique that works through specific sequences to release postural strain, reset the nervous system, and reduce pain and tension patterns.
What is Therapeutic Massage?
Therapeutic massage targets tightness, pain patterns, lymphatic congestion, and stress-related tension. Sessions may include deep tissue work, lymphatic drainage, cupping, acupressure, and more.
But this is not a spa style massage. You get to keep your clothes on – but do dress comfortably in materials that aren’t too tight.
Acupressure therapy is a traditional healing technique that involves applying manual pressure to specific points on the body, known as acupoints, to promote health and well-being. It is based on the same principles as acupuncture, but instead of using needles, acupressure uses the fingers, palms, or elbows to apply pressure. This natural, hands-on therapy is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is used to balance the body’s energy, relieve pain, reduce stress, and promote healing.
The acupoints are specific spots on the body where energy channels (meridians) are believed to be concentrated. There are hundreds of acupoints throughout the body, each corresponding to different organs, systems, or health functions. By applying pressure to these points, Dr. Eric aims to balance the flow of energy (Qi or Chi) and restore harmony within the body.
Some of the more commonly reported benefits include:
- Pain relief – Often used to reduce pain associated with conditions like headaches, back pain, neck pain, arthritis, and menstrual cramps.
- Stress reduction – Helps to reduce stress and anxiety. It promotes relaxation by stimulating the release of endorphins, which are the body’s feel-good chemicals.
- Improved circulation – Pressure on acupoints may stimulate blood flow and help oxygen and nutrients reach tissues more effectively.
- Nausea and digestive support – Can help with nausea as well as improve digestion and reduce bloating.
- Improved sleep – By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, acupressure may also help improve sleep quality.
Acupressure is generally considered safe for most people. However, it may not be advised for people with certain medical conditions, such as pregnancy, blood-clotting disorders, or injuries like fractures and should be done only under the guidance of healthcare professional in such situations.
